By Priya Raman, Reviews Editor. We ordered the Ami Paris Heart-Embroidered Street-Style Denim Jacket through our usual shopping-agent route in September 2026 — SKU 7702064583, $45.97 against a $50.00 compare-at price, listed as in stock — and it went straight onto the bench in Rotterdam. What arrived was a blue-wash trucker with a button front, a classic collar and the embroidered heart motif on the chest pocket. The listing also notes a white version with red heart embroidery; we tested the blue wash.
What landed, and what the photographs claimed
The garment itself is straightforward: 100% cotton denim by hand-feel, mid-weight and slightly stiff out of the bag, with the kind of surface that softens rather than fades in the first month. The heart motif is an embroidered patch rather than a print, roughly 9.5 cm across and 8.2 cm tall, stitched into the chest pocket area. Topstitching is tidy, the placket buttons seat cleanly, and there is no loose thread trimming to report on our sample.
The listing, however, describes something else entirely in its own specification fields.
The spec sheet argues with the product photos
- Main fibre is stated as cotton, but the fabric name field reads cotton-linen.
- The style field says cardigan; the collar field says lapel; the sleeve field says short sleeve.
- Pattern is listed as solid colour and the finish as press-free, with a 30-count yarn and a business-commuting style note.
- The seasonal line says summer 2025, and the target wearer is listed as teenagers.
- More than 60 colour variants sit under the same item, mixing small-heart, large-heart, striped, pocket-heart, carbon-brushed, raised-embroidery and zip-jacket families.
This is not a scandal, it is a catalogue problem. One Weidian item number has been used as an umbrella for several garment families, and the denim jackets sit inside it under their own variant codes — the ones labelled 2266 short denim jacket, 2268 embossed denim jacket and 2288 unisex denim jacket. The short-sleeve cotton-linen fields belong to a different family in the same item. If you order by price alone and do not check the variant code, you can land a summer top instead of a trucker.
Bench measurements against the listing chart
We measured every point flat on the bench, seam to seam, with the jacket buttoned and laid out cold and unworn. The chart figures come from the seller's published table for size L.
| Point | Our size L, flat | Listing chart | Variance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit | 57.5 cm | 60 cm | −2.5 cm |
| Shoulder seam to seam | 48.5 cm | Not published | — |
| Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff | 62.0 cm | 60 cm | +2.0 cm |
| Body length, high point of shoulder to hem | 66.5 cm | 68 cm | −1.5 cm |
| Hem width, flat | 55.0 cm | Not published | — |
| Garment mass on the 0.1 g scale | 690 g | Not published | — |
Three of the four published figures drifted by more than our 1 cm flag threshold, so the sample does not match its chart cleanly. Nothing here is catastrophic — 2.5 cm at the chest is roughly half a size — but the drift runs in both directions, which means the chart was not derived from this batch. That is the single most useful thing to know before you buy.
Wash test: one cold cycle, flat dried
We washed the jacket once before the final fit note: cold, gentle, inside out, no tumble dryer, laid flat to dry. Measured again on the bench:
- Body length: 66.5 → 65.7 cm (−0.8 cm, 1.2%)
- Chest, flat: 57.5 → 57.0 cm (−0.5 cm)
- Sleeve: 62.0 → 61.6 cm (−0.4 cm)
The embroidery shows no puckering, no lifted edges and no colour bleed into the blue wash. Community guidance for Ami heart-logo pieces is consistent on the care point: cold and inside out, avoid rubbing the motif directly, and never hot-tumble-dry cotton with embroidery, because that is where deforming and heavy shrinkage come from. Our first wash stayed well inside acceptable movement. That applies to this jacket's cotton, and the same guidance is widely applied to Ami de Coeur tops.
Fourteen days of wear, and the shoulder question
We wore the jacket over a T-shirt and, on colder days, over a mid-weight hoodie, with arms raised, bags on the shoulder and the sleeves pushed up to the elbow. The mass helps: at 690 g the denim carries its own shape instead of collapsing at the hem, and the sleeves crease where a trucker should. The button placket never gaped at the chest.
Shoulder width is the honest caveat. At 48.5 cm seam to seam on a size L, this reads as a relaxed cut rather than a slim one, and wearers with narrow shoulders can get a dropped, slightly sloping line. Ami's own denim outerwear is frequently cut oversized and described as running true to size, so the direction of travel is normal for the label — but the published community guidance for Ami heart-logo pieces is blunter about the consequence:
The shoulder seam usually sits about 2 to 3 cm outside the natural shoulder point, and the armholes are cut generously. Sizing up risks showing more bra strap edge when you raise your arms.
That guidance was written about Ami de Coeur knitwear and T-shirts, not this jacket, so treat it as a directional warning rather than a measurement of the trucker in front of you. Our own flat measurement is the number to trust.
Sizing and how to order it safely
Published retail references for Ami's denim outerwear point in two directions: some retailers describe the denim overshirt as fitting true to size with an intentionally oversized cut, while a Japanese retail listing for a comparable Ami denim overshirt in size S lists a 49 cm shoulder and a 75.5 cm body length — considerably longer and wider than the trucker we measured. The lesson is that "Ami denim" covers very different patterns, so brand-level advice will not size this listing for you.
- Confirm the variant code in writing before checkout — the denim families are the ones marked 2266, 2268 and 2288, not the short-sleeve codes.
- Ask the seller for flat chest, shoulder, sleeve and body-length figures for the exact size, then compare them to the table above rather than to the chart.
- Ask which fibre applies to your variant, cotton or cotton-linen, since both appear in the listing.
- Ask whether the heart is flat embroidery or raised, and whether the white/red-heart version carries the same measurements.
At $45.97 with the item marked in stock and an original price of $50.00, the sourcing model is the usual agent route: a reference price below a brand's retail is the arrangement, not a red flag. What we can verify is the garment on our bench, and it is a clean mid-weight trucker with under 1.5 cm of wash movement. What we cannot verify is fibre content without laboratory testing, or that the chart you are shown matches the batch you receive.
