AMI Paris Heart-Print Zipper Hoodie Review: 45 Color Refs, 362 g of Loopback, and a Shorter Body Than the Retail Reference

Bench review of the AMI Paris heart-print zip hoodie: 362 g in size M, 45 color references, loopback cotton, and the sizing and authentication checks worth doing first.

Hands-on score
4.3 / 5
Editor verdict
A 362.4 g loopback zip hoodie that meets its listed weight and chest figures, shrinks just over 1 cm on first wash, and comes in 3–4 cm shorter through the body than the retail reference. Fit runs wide at the armhole and short at the hem.
Anyone after a light, wide-run AMI-style zip layer for autumn who is willing to measure a hoodie they already own, size down a step, and verify the seller before paying.
Buyers who want the long, draped retail zip fit, need fleece-backed warmth below 10 °C, or need third-party buyer reviews of this exact listing before committing.

What works

  1. Measures within 1 cm of published chest and shoulder figures for M.
  2. Ribbing and embroidery held through one 30 °C wash.
  3. 45 colour references across six variant groups — the widest run we have seen on this silhouette.

Watch-outs

  1. Body length runs 3–4 cm short of the retail reference, so the hem sits higher.
  2. No fleecing and regular thickness: an autumn layer only.
  3. No independent buyer evidence for this exact listing, and heart-logo font weight is the usual replica failure point.
AMI Paris Heart-Print Zipper Hoodie Review: 45 Color Refs, 362 g of Loopback, and a Shorter Body Than the Retail Reference

We ordered the AMI Paris Heart-Print Zipper Hoodie Collection in size M, colourway Black-403, on our usual agent route and put it straight on the Rotterdam bench. SKU 7705087738, listed at $34.03 against a $38.81 reference price, marked in stock. What follows is the bench sheet: flat measurements with a tape, garment weight on the calibrated 0.1 g scale, one 30 °C machine wash, and 14 days of wear.

What arrived

The parcel came in a plain grey poly mailer inside the agent's outer box. Inside was the hoodie, folded, with no hangtag and no branded packaging — normal for this route. The catalogue copy describes a full-length zip with a drawstring hood, split kangaroo pockets at the centre seam, and ribbed cuffs and hem, plus a small embroidered heart on the chest. All of that is present. The embroidery is tight and clean on the chest; the heart outline has no visible thread breaks or puckering at the edges.

Bench sheet: what our tape and scale said

We measured the garment flat, twice, before and after the wash. All figures in centimetres unless noted; the brand reference column comes from published size data, not from our bench.

Shrinkage after one cold wash and a line dry came to 0.8 cm across the chest and 1.2 cm in body length, with 0.6 cm through the sleeve. That is inside what we expect from unwashed loopback cotton and is not enough to change your size. The chest and shoulder numbers sit within about 1 cm of the published pullover figures, so the listing's scant size chart is not misleading — it is simply too thin to plan from on its own.

The body length is the number to watch

AMI's own product pages for the zipped Ami de Coeur hoodie list a 69 cm centre-back length at M, and resale measurement tables for the same retail cut cluster around 67–68 cm. Our M measured 65.4 cm. That is roughly 3–4 cm shorter than the retail reference, and you feel it: with the zip closed the hem sits closer to the hip bone than on the retail piece, with less overhang past the waistband of jeans. Our 180 cm, 76 kg tester found the body length the single most noticeable difference from the retail version. If you want the long, draped zip-hoodie look AMI is known for, size up or accept that this reads as a trimmer, more cropped cut.

Fabric and construction

Cotton loopback — terry cloth — at a regular thickness, unlined and unbrushed, with no fleece backing. The 362.4 g we measured in M lands inside the listed 350–400 g band, so the weight claim holds up. In hand the fabric has the dry, slightly gauzy feel of loopback rather than the dense pile of a fleece hoodie, and the inside loops are visible and even.

  • Stitching: flatlock seams through the hood and shoulders, single-needle topstitching down the zip tape. We found no loose threads or skipped runs at the pocket openings.
  • Ribbing: the cuffs and hem recovered to within 0.4 cm of their original width after the wash, which is better than most pieces in this price bracket.
  • Hardware: the pull runs smoothly across the full length with no snag at the hood junction. It is unbranded, which is worth noting if you are comparing against retail engraved pulls.

This is an autumn layer. With no fleece backing and a regular thickness, wind goes straight through it; below about 10 °C you want something under it or over it.

The colour run is the real story here

The listing carries 45 colour references split across six variant groups, which is an unusually broad run for a single hoodie listing and the main reason this collection is worth a look.

GroupRefsWhat is in it
4017Black, white, grey, navy, light blue, beige, pink
4039Adds khaki, dark green, bright blue
4049Includes four two-tone sets: black-black, black-red, white-black, white-red
4059Pastel-leaning: pink, light blue, light yellow, light apricot, green
4067Heathered and deeper tones: heather grey, carbon grey, burgundy, brown
4074Black, navy, army green, light purple

Variant names are terse, so compare the image group attached to each reference before you commit. The two-tone 404 sets in particular read very differently from the single-colour pieces.

Fit: we would size down

Chinese AMI buying guides advise going one size down on the brand's tops, reasoning that the armholes are cut wide while the body length is not shortened for smaller frames, so a larger size reads baggy rather than relaxed. Our bench numbers are consistent with the wide-armhole half of that argument: the M armhole is generous and the shoulder seams sit slightly off the shoulder point on a 180 cm frame.

On a 76 kg tester the M worked as a relaxed everyday fit with roughly a hand's width of room at the chest. Anyone under about 175 cm should try S first. Our M came in at 53.2 cm pit-to-pit, so compare that number against a hoodie you already own before ordering rather than against the brand's own size labels.

Authentication: three things to inspect on arrival

This is where we would spend our time, not on the seams. Authentication guides for AMI's heart-logo pieces are consistent about what replicas get wrong, and the advice applies directly to this listing:

Inspect the heart logo's font weight and placement, the neck-tag stitching spacing and alignment, and the wash-tag font and symbol spacing. Replicas typically get these details wrong, even when the garment itself looks convincing.

The embroidery on our piece is clean, but the font weight on the heart is the tell that matters, and it is easy to check with a photo of a retail piece side by side. One more caution: a look-alike third-party site trading under an "amiparis-store" name carries a 2 out of 5 TrustScore across 16 customer reviews. Because orders here route through shopping agents, confirm the seller is an authorised one rather than a look-alike reseller before paying.

After 14 days and one wash

Worn on and off for two weeks: around the office, on a train, and under a shell jacket in light rain. No pilling at the cuffs or under the arms, no seam separation at the pocket splits, no zip drift. The loopback surface did pick up a faint sheen where the hood rubs the neck, which is normal for unbrushed cotton. Post-wash, the ribbing held and the embroidery showed no fraying.

Value

At $34.03 before agent service fees and international shipping, this is a light autumn layer priced well below any retail AMI zip hoodie. Declared parcel weight put our single-piece shipment comfortably inside a standard 0.5 kg band on most agent lines, so combined shipping with other items gets the landed cost down further. The catch is not the sewing — it is confirming you are buying from an authorised seller, and accepting a body that runs shorter than the retail reference.

There is no independent buyer evidence for this exact listing, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can say is what our own bench measured: a 362.4 g loopback hoodie that matches its listed weight, holds its chest measurement within 1 cm of published figures, shrinks a little over 1 cm in length on first wash, and comes in 3–4 cm shorter through the body than the retail zip it references.

How we tested
Size M in Black-403, ordered on our agent route and bench-tested in Rotterdam. Tape-measured flat pre- and post-wash, weighed on the calibrated 0.1 g scale, worn 14 days and machine washed once at 30 °C. Brand reference figures came from published size data, not our bench.

    Product listing verified on 2026-10-16.

Does the zipped cut fit differently from the pullover AMI hoodie?

Yes. Our size M matched published pullover chest figures at 53.2 cm, but the body came in at 65.4 cm centre-back against the retail zipped hoodie's 69 cm. Expect a trimmer, slightly shorter body than either reference suggests.

How much does this hoodie shrink in the first wash?

Ours lost 0.8 cm across the chest and 1.2 cm in body length after one 30 °C machine wash and a line dry, with 0.6 cm through the sleeve. That is normal for unwashed loopback cotton and not enough to move you a size.

Is there a fleece-backed version in this colour run?

No. The listing specifies regular thickness with no fleece lining and no inner layer across all 45 colour references, so it works as an autumn layer rather than deep-winter warmth.
