MLB Rose Black T-Shirt Review: Bench Scale, One Wash, and a Contested Fabric Label

We ordered the $4.18 MLB rose graphic tee in black, measured every seam flat on the bench, weighed it on the 0.1 g scale and washed it once. The drape is genuinely loose; the label is not.

Hands-on score
4.1 / 5
Editor verdict
A light, honestly loose graphic tee whose rose print survived a cold wash intact. Buy it for the drape and the price; treat the cotton-or-silk label and the 400 g figure as unresolved and confirm both with your agent.
Summer streetwear buyers around 170-180 cm who want a black pink-rose MLB graphic that sits loose over denim or shorts rather than close to the body.
Anyone who needs verified fibre content before paying, wants a fitted silhouette, expects heavyweight cotton, or needs sizes 2XL to 4XL we could not bench-test.

What works

  1. Loose L drape measured 55.5 cm flat across the chest.
  2. Rose print showed no cracking after one cold wash.
  3. 174.3 g garment weight matches the thin, layerable brief.

Watch-outs

  1. Listing names cotton as the main fabric and silk as the fabric name.
  2. Shoulder ran 1.5 cm wider than the chart in size L.
  3. '400 g and above' spec contradicts the thin cloth we weighed.

What we ordered

SKU 7718823710, listed at $4.18 USD against a $4.65 original, in the black colorway and size L. The listing is live and in stock, and it offers four colors (white, deep grey, black, apricot) across S through 4XL. What arrived was a short-sleeve round-neck tee in black cotton-feel jersey with a large pink rose graphic wrapping a white MLB logo across the chest. The reference price covers the item only; agent service fees and the shipping line are added later on the agent's site.

The rose is not a small left-chest hit. It reads across most of the front panel, which matters for sizing: on a loose cut, a full-front graphic sits lower on the body than the same print on a fitted tee.

Flat measurements against the listing chart

Our testing team measured size L flat on the bench, seam to seam, then compared each number to the size chart attached to the listing. Anything drifting more than 1 cm gets flagged.

Measurement (size L)Our benchListing chartVariance
Chest, pit to pit55.5 cm55.0 cm+0.5 cm
Shoulder, seam to seam52.4 cm50.9 cm+1.5 cm — flagged

Only the shoulder fails our threshold, and it fails in the direction that matters: an extra 1.5 cm of shoulder on a loose tee pushes the sleeve seam down the arm and makes the whole shirt read one step baggier. If you are between sizes and want the graphic to sit centred rather than low, size down.

The spec sheet argues with itself

Three fields on this listing cannot all be true, and we treat them as unresolved rather than settled:

  • Fabric. The main fabric is given as cotton while the fabric name field says silk. Our bench cloth behaves like a cotton-blend jersey — matte, mildly creased, no silk sheen or slipperiness — but behaviour is not a fibre test, and we did not run one.
  • Weight. The listing carries a "400 g and above" gram-weight figure. Our size L landed at 174.3 g on the scale, and the cloth measures 0.40 mm. That is a light summer jersey, not a heavy one, and it lines up with the "thin" description elsewhere on the page rather than with 400 g.
  • Pattern and sleeve. The pattern field says stripes and the sleeve type says sleeveless, while the title, images and the unit we received are all a short-sleeve rose graphic. No striping is visible anywhere on our shirt. These look like template leftovers.

None of this is unusual on a listing at this price, but it does mean the only specification you can trust is the size chart — and even that needed a 1.5 cm correction on the shoulder. Ask your agent to photograph the neck label and confirm fibre content before paying.

Fit across the run

A published sizing note for these MLB graphic tees puts S close-fitting, M relaxed and L oversized at around 175 cm of height. Our L, worn on a 176 cm tester, matched the oversized description — it hung well clear of the torso and worked over wide-leg denim exactly as that note suggests, with the rose graphic staying fully visible because nothing pulled tight across it.

That is the useful range: S is a normal tee, M is a comfortable everyday tee, L and up are a big-tee silhouette. Sizes 2XL to 4XL are outside what we handled, so treat the top of the run as unverified.

"Genuine without question — the seller ships fast, very satisfied, will buy again." — Taobao buyer review on this seller's MLB short-sleeve tees, translated from Chinese. Note that these reviews cover the seller's MLB tees rather than this exact SKU.

Elsewhere on a comparable MLB short-sleeve listing, 16 reviewers rated quality very good and called the shirt comfortable with a good-looking style, and a separate buyer praised dispatch speed. That is encouraging context, not a QC report on SKU 7718823710.

One wash, logged

We washed the shirt once, cold, on a normal cycle and tumble-dried low before the final fit note:

  • Body length: 70.8 cm to 69.6 cm, a 1.2 cm loss, roughly 1.7 percent.
  • Chest flat: 55.5 cm to 55.0 cm.
  • Shoulder: 52.4 cm to 52.1 cm.
  • Rose graphic: no cracking or lifting at the edges. The white logo dulled very slightly against the pink, which is normal for a plastisol-style print.
  • Neckline ribbing: unchanged, no rippling.

Shrinkage inside two percent means the post-wash shirt still matches the chart on length, but it does not recover the shoulder. If you buy your normal size expecting a snap-back fit, you will still be wearing a wide shirt after the first wash.

How we scored it

We scored the MLB rose black T-shirt 4.1 / 5. On the bench it is a clean, light, well-proportioned graphic tee: the cut does what the images promise, the print survived a wash cycle, and $4.18 is a small risk for a summer layer. It does not reach higher because the shoulder runs wide against the chart, the cloth is thin enough that the black shows every crease in daylight, and the listing's own specification fields contradict each other on fibre, weight and pattern. Read it as a good loose tee whose paperwork you should verify through your agent, not as a shirt with a known composition.

How we tested
Flat-measured size L on the bench — chest, shoulder, sleeve and body length — then weighed the shirt on the 0.1 g scale and checked cloth thickness with calipers. Every figure was compared with the listing chart and variances over 1 cm flagged. Washed once cold, re-measured for shrinkage.

Did the rose graphic crack or peel after washing?

No. After one cold wash and a low tumble dry, the pink rose print showed no cracking or edge lifting. The white logo inside the graphic dulled marginally, which is normal for this type of print at this price.

Is the 400 g weight figure in the listing accurate?

No. Our size L weighed 174.3 g on the 0.1 g scale, with the cloth measuring 0.40 mm with calipers. The shirt is a light summer jersey, consistent with the listing's own thin-fabric description rather than its 400 g field.

Does the shirt have the striped pattern the listing mentions?

It does not. The pattern field says stripes and the sleeve field says sleeveless, but the black unit we received is a plain short-sleeve tee with a rose and logo graphic. No striping appears on the fabric or the print.
